DEEZ NUTS

of his Vice President on the Propaganda. 

          Brady Olson is a 15 year old boy from Iowa who is running as a third party candidate and refers to himself as, "Deez Nuts." Brady wants to run because he is annoyed with the "two party system." He recognizes the frustration of voters with the way the election is set up and he is hoping that by putting himself out there, in this way, that he will cause others to think about how the election is set up. Obviously he cannot actually win the election because he is 20 years to young, but he has the highest third party numbers that America has seen in a while. This is a bold move for a teenager, but is this all a joke? He said that he would have Limberbutt McCubbins as his Vice President, and Mr. McCubbins happens to be a cat. In the picture above, it makes me wonder whether he is doing this as a joke or being serious about it. I think it might be a little bit of both, but no one is stopping him so why not make your vice president a cat if you are aware that you will not actually make office. I believe that Americans need some people who state their opinions, but do something about it. We want someone who knows what they are talking about and someone to relate to. 

Stock Market Update

           The Stock market is doing much better, and Thursday ended positively. The DOW finished 369 points up and Wednesdays point gain totaled to 619. These two exciting point raises show that this has also been the biggest come back in history. Although our stocks were plunging into the deep end, they were still higher than they had ever been. Even though red is still showing, S&P is up 200% versus what it was in 2009. Energy and Oil stocks had the positive come back. Energy stocks rose up 6% while Oil stocks rose above 10% and the price per barrel came up 2 dollars. The stock closing for this week were: 588 points down on Monday, 204 on Tuesday, and coming up to 619 on Thursday. This is showing some signs of hope. Although the stock market is known to fluctuate it still makes me nervous to hear about stocks going bad. Like the woman from CNBC said, in my last blog, it would be a good idea to hold onto your stocks and not make any rash decisions. Look at what can happen when you do so! 

Wait, Who's Running for President in 2020?

          Kanye West announced at the VMA awards last night, that he will be running for President in the year 2020. His exact words were, "And yes, as you probably could've guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for President/" I did not see this coming at all. When my mom was talking about it with me this morning all I could reply was, "What is happening to our country?" This is a scary thought, that anyone who meets certain requirements of age can run for Presidency. Kanye even admitted to doing drugs before he got on stage! He says, "Yes, I rolled up a little something. I knocked the edge off." Would you want your next President to "knock the edge off" before he got up to give a speech to our country? In my opinion, I do not want our next leader to be a rapper, or one who abuses drugs. The official Democratic twitter account tweeted out to Kanye, "Last night @kanyewest declared his candidacy for president in 2020. Welcome to the race Mr. West. Glad to have you." Him and his wife, Kim Kardashian, attended a Democratic party for Hilary Clinton. I do not agree with this at all. Kanye needs to stick to rapping and drugs. 

Boy Who Washed up on Shore

          "I don't want anything else from this world, everything I was dreaming of is gone. I want to bury my children and sit beside them until I die", said the father Abdullah. He lived in Syria with the rest of his lovely family. He has two sons, Galip and Aylan, and he has a wife, Rehen. They all lived together in Kohbani, Syria, a country that is swallowed up in war. Abdullah wanted a peaceful home for his family, as do most husbands and fathers. The mother and two sons drowned in the ocean, trying to make this dream become a reality. The son, Aylan was found, dead, on the shore of a Turkish beach. The family was originally trying to get to Canada. Last week, on Thursday, four Syrians were taken into custody for Human trafficking because they connected these families bodies with nine other dead bodies that were washed ashore. Abdullah is the only family member to survive. I have no words for this event. It is truly sad and heart breaking to see these images of children dead on the shore of beaches. How could someone do something like this? Why wold someone do something like this? It is a truly, truly awful thing that happened.   

Refugees

Refugees in Syria 

          At least 14 Senators have asked the US government to help aid the Syrian refugees. They ask that 5 times more than the set 1500 are to be saved. The United States in the leader in providing Humanitarian Aid, but Germany has out done us by saving 800,000 Syrians! We would like to save 70,000. Our number pales in comparison to what Germany expects to do. Shannon Scribner, who is the humanitarian policy manager, and suggests that the best way to go about this is for the world governments to find a solution for this situation in Syria, but since that is not likely to happen, most have decided to save these people. What Syria and Lebanon need is funding. Scribner has talked to the people of Lebanon and Syria and tells "The Guardian" that parents are counting to watch their children get more and more hungry. Our funding for them will only last until September. It is a hard situation to decide what you must do. While I feel that it does not involve the US and wonder why we are in other countries instead of focusing on us, I am sympathetic towards the people in different countries who are in desperate need for help. Who is supposed to help them if their country cant and we have the ability to?

Enslaving Women in Syria to be sex slaves

          Syria, the Islamic State, bases their actions of kidnapping and raping young women on religious beliefs. These are members of the Isis movement, and they seem to be capturing women who do not have the same belief system as they do. One of the women that New York Times interviewed said that a man told her that she is worshiping the devil, and because she is worshiping the devil, he has the right to do whatever he pleases with her. Most of these young women, some preteen, were polytheists, which deems another religious problem and "allows" for these men to rape these women. The Islamic State allows for this to go on because they have cited places in the Quran, and sayings of the Prophet Muhammad. Islamic theologists, however, do not agree with these statements at all. They say the Quran, much like the Christian bible, was referring to slavery as something that happenED, not something to continue to happen. The members of Isis flaunt their actions and, from watching a video, think it is quite amusing to pick a new woman to rape. F (pictured above) only goes by her first initial in her name because she associates her full name with rape. The women and children are split from the fathers and sons. The men go to get shot to death, while the women await re-distribution to different areas where they are then sold into captivity. Girls like F, who live to tell their tale, escaped after 9 months of being held in captivity. She escaped continuous rape and discrimination. America must do something to help these young women and men. 

Donald Trump's Immigration Speech

speech about what he should do about Immigration issues in America. 

          I read an article from CNN describing, from a very liberal point of view, what Donald Trump said about Immigration. Donald trump did say the quote above, and he has some bad ideas about what should be done towards immigration, at least CNN thinks so. While reading this article, I realized that the author of this particular article was going against everything that Trump had to say. For instance, Trump suggested that he would "deport all undocumented immigrant families." CNN says this would cost anywhere from $400 billion to $600 billion and would take over 20 years. I am glad I read this article because it made me look at things from a different point of view. Talking with my dad about this exact issue last night, I made up my mind that this was a good idea, and now I am not so sure. With all of the money, economic, and social problems that this would cause in America, I am not sure if it is worth it to want to get Immigrants out of our country. Based off of what CNN has to say, they are doing more harm than good.

The Clinton "Crisis"

          There has been some talk in the news about Hillary Clinton sending quite a few emails from a secret email account. It became a topic of controversy because there was much discussion about opening up her private email account and seeing what was inside these emails. She created this other account for "State Department business" (NBC news). Her lawyer says that it was perfectly acceptable for her to create this account and it goes against no rules or laws that were in place at that time. A judge replied to the lawyer, "We wouldn't be here today if this employee had followed government policy." Clinton's lawyer was saying that he anticipated many of the emails were going to have to do with personal matters. Many of her emails that she sent were archived and I suppose she is "off the hook" now. But, I still think that it is a bit suspicious that she had another private account. Maybe she wanted some of the matters in her life to be private, but that still does not call for her to have this separate email. However, this all happened when she was Secretary of State, so I do not see the reason to bring this back up if it happened several years ago. Yet, her percentage of voters has decreased dramatically from 51% to 48%, and according to NBC news, she has never been more disliked by democrats.  

The "Sea of Red"

          Stock markets have taken a turn for the worst. It has not been this low since 2011. NBC says, "a brutal finish to the worst week in market in four years", "the ninth-biggest point decline in its history." Because of the decline of China's economy, some of our stocks are suffering, like Apple. Apple stock has gone down 6%. This was not the only stock to fall on Friday. Big companies like, Amazon, Microsoft, John Deere are all plummeting. Gas prices are at a 6 year low, and below 40$ a barrel! This may look positive for your average american consumer, however many oil companies are having to let go of their employees and their stocks have taken a huge plunge on Wall Street. NBC News had an interview with a woman who told Americans, who have money invested in stocks, to wait it out. It is not good to make a decision "based on time, meaning what do I do know?" China is devaluing its currency, which in turn made exports cheaper. Whatever we think is bad, it is worse. According to a CNBC worker, "We (America) are dependent on how China decides to manage their own economy." 

Donald Trump's Big Appearance

          25,000-30,000 people attended Donald Trump's Rally in Mobile, Alabama. This is the largest group of people that has rallied together this campaign. He is the "front runner" (abc news) of this campaign currently. From reading an article on CNN about Trump, I thought that he was in the bottom of the race. I am a steadfast conservative and so I am rooting for a Republican to win, so when I read an article from a liberal point of view, it opened up my eyes to what other voters may be thinking about Donald Trump, it was interesting. To my knowledge, the venue for this rally had to be changed multiple times that day because the crowd was so large it could not fit in any smaller space than the Stadium. Before this, Bernie Sanders had the largest crowd show up and that was 28,000. During Trump's speech, he addressed some of the main Republican concerns: Isis, Immigration, and proudly stated that he would get rid of Obama Care all together. As one can imagine this created some cheers from the crowd. For this election it seems that more people are getting involved, maybe this is my assumption because I am now dipping my toe into the world of politics, but it seems like more citizens are excited about voting for this election. I say this because of the number of people showing up to rallies. 28,000 seemed tough to beat, but it was done easily. However, this does not mean that 30,000 people will show up to vote, but I have hope that this will be an interesting election!
